We are Spinners!
Stop by on any Tuesday afternoon between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and visit with our spinners.
You will see various styles of spinning wheels and spindles in action. We spin various fibers from alpaca, llama, camel, bison, and dog and cat brushings, to cotton, flax, silk, mohair, and wool. We’ve also been known to spin cassette tape, tissue paper, and coffee filters. Some other fibers previously spun have been angora rabbit, ramie, yak hair, reindeer hair, horse hair, human hair, and even milkweed seed fluff, and barrel cactus “cotton”.
Colors range from natural white, grey, brown to multicolored predyed fibers. Many of us also dye our own wool with KoolAid, natural plant dyes, lichens, and even cochineal (a bug that is found on some cactus).
